Bai Ling, the eternal fashion disaster

Daily Entertainment Guide staff were thinking of things to put up that would seem at least remotely interesting for the month, when someone came up with a more than a remotely interesting subject - Bai Ling.
There is nobody who circles the celebrity beat that doesn’t know Bai Ling. While her film credits of late are… well… (let’s just leave it at that, shall we) - she is most known for her outrageously hideous fashion sense. And she has the gall to afford a nipslip every now and then.
Still, Bai Ling seems to have mastered the art of fugly fashion - she should set up her own boutique, we think.
Look at that dress. What is that? We swear that our mother’s cheesecloth curtains (and nobody makes curtains out of cheesecloth) look infinitely better. And do not get us started on the hair.
Domestic Violence in the Shadows of Hollywood

In the light of Hollywood that is, when Chris Brown was sought for some violent acts of assault while he and a formerly unknown female caller placed a call for help on 911. The assault charges were initially anonymous but soon after, the ever present pap and media took on the battery victim who turns out to be Rihanna, one of Hollywood’s best young stars. Trying to contain the matter was totally futile when pictures were released of Rhianna after the assault, battered and bruised, victim of an enraged Chris who says he’s sorry (as if that’ll work).
Much is the glamor and stink of Hollywood where people will be people however their limousines may be. In the shadow of the Grammy where Rihanna was set to perform, the speculations just got louder and louder till Chris was caught and placed in jail for the crime. There was much speculation if Rhianna was the actual caller who placed the 911 call but they were both seen attending a pre-Grammy party and were known to have departed together in Chris’s Limo right before the call was placed. Rihanna canceled her performance in view of the tragic event without much reason.

Amy Winehouse, loved by some and hated by most has again managed to grab headlines with the release of information that she is suffering form emphysema and an irregular heartbeat. The star’s house also suffers a break-in when it was burglarized according to police, the investigation is underway. 
Madonna’s much publicized break-up with Gut Richie has information that a $74 million settlement was paid, she of course denies this and a decision on the custody battle that would be sure to ensue is awaited. Kanye West, the prolific rapper has again been caught, not by the camera but by police due to another fight with the pap’s.

カリフォルニアの男性はガンズアンドローゼズの期待の新アルバム、「チャイニーズ・デモクラシー」を不法に配布したかどで「法的ジャングルへようこそ」となった。 スキワールというニックネームを持つケビン・コギル、27歳のブロガーは自宅でアルバムのトラックをアップロードし、8月に逮捕された。 彼は無罪を主張した。青年はトラックを自分のサイトに載せたことは認めたが、どうやってコピーを入手したかについては口を閉ざしている。逮捕後、バンドのリードシンガーのアクセルローズはコピーが何処、また誰から渡されたのか知りたいと述べた。ゴギルは不法活動が有罪となれば、連邦刑務所に5年間入所する。しかし彼が有罪になる前に、検察はこの青年が利益のために不法活動を行ったことを証明しなくてはならない。裁判日はまだ設定されていない。

往年の名優、ポール・ニューマンさん (1925-2008)の生涯を簡単に振り返ってみましょう。 ポール・ニューマンさんは今週、がんの合併症のために自宅でその生涯を終えました。 かれは並み居るセレブの中で誰よりも尊敬され、多くの人々に理想として憧れられた人物でした。「明日に向かって撃て！」でのロバート・レッドフォードとの競演、「暴力脱獄」での名演、近年では2002年の「ロード・トゥ・パーディション」でのトム・ハンクスとの共演など、多くの映画で観客を魅了し続けてきました。 子供たちにとっては、ディズニー＆ピクサーの映画「カーズ」に登場するドック・ハドソンの声として親しまれています。
女優ジョアン・ウッドワードさんと結婚してからは理想の夫婦像として讃えられ、離婚や浮気の多い芸能界という世界では非常に珍しいことに50年もの長い年月を連れ添いました。 また、素晴らしい慈善家でもあり、「ニューマンズ・オウン」という食品会社を設立し、その利益の全てを寄付していました。 彼の死は多くの人々に大きな悲しみをもたらすでしょう。

Glenn Close will receive the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award this coming 5th of December. This is in sync with the Hollywood Reporter’s Issue every year, Power 100: Women in Entertainment. The award will be given to Ms. Close for her countless contributions in the entertainment industry. It is said that her works in the film and active involvement in fund raising activities have truly been a great example of a leader in every aspect. It is to note that Glenn Close rose to stardom in the early 70s. She was nominated five times for Oscar awards. She supported independent films and has worked with Sundance Institute, founded by Robert Redford. Sherry Lansing was chief of Paramount Pictures, the first woman ever to lead a big Hollywood studio.
Guns N’ Roses Pirate Pleads Innocent

A California man was “welcomed to the legal jungle” when he was charged with illegally disseminating tracks of Guns N’ Roses’ much anticipated album “Chinese Democracy”. Kevin Cogill, a 27-year-old blogger with the nickname Skwerl, uploaded tracks from the album on his home in June, and was arrested in Aug. 27. He pleaded not guilty. The juvenile admitted to putting the tracks in his site but would not disclose how he got the copy. After the arrest, Axl Rose, lead singer of the band, wanted to know more on where and whom the original source came from. Cogill will face five years in a federal state penitentiary if found guilty of the illegal activity. But before he can be convicted, the prosecutors must prove without reasonable doubt that the boy did this for profit. Trial date is yet to be set.
Remembering Paul Newman

Let us take a moment to remember Paul Newman (1925-2008), one of the older generation’s certified major star. Just this week, he died at home due to complications arising from cancer. He was one of the most respected and admired celebrity, appearing in films like Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid,with Robert Redford, Cool Hand Luke & most recently, the 2002 film Road To Perdition with Tom Hanks. For all the kids out there, he was the voice of Doc Hudson from the Disney-Pixar movie Cars.
He and actress Joanne Woodward, is hailed as one of the most stellar examples of marriage, having achieved 50 years together, in a world where marriage is often transitory and fleeting. He was also a genuine philanthropist, founding Newman’s Own, a line of food products that donates all proceeds of the sale to charity. He will be sadly missed.

One year after almost executing her career on the MTV Video Music Awards stage, it’s been incorrigible that Britney Spears will be recurring to the VMAs on Sunday to kick off their 25th anniversary formal procedure. Unfortunately, unlike last year where the singer opened up the show with a disastrous, scantily clad performance of “Gimme More,” MTV has announced that Brit will not be singing this time around.
“MTV has long played an important role in my career,” the pop superstar said after today’s announcement. “How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMA’s? I’m excited to open the whole show, to say hi to my fans and to be listed.”
Brit is scheduled this year for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for her hit song, “Piece of Me.”
Van Toffler, President of MTV Networks had this to say about the choice to have Brit back. “Britney has done the whole thing from perform with a snake, lock lips with Madonna and prove that what happens in Vegas doesn’t always wait in Vegas. I can’t wait to see what she does to kick off this year’s show.”

After what happen to Britney Spears, ex-husband Kevin Federline feels worried and believes psychiatric hospital was the best place for his ex-wife.The source says that Federline, “doesn’t want her to get out until she’s made progress,”. “This is obviously going to help her in the end - later, much later.”
